Windows Live SkyDrive - storage in the cloud

Skydrive Windows Live SkyDrive (formerly Windows Live Folders) announced a new beta release with several new features. The beta is currently open to users in the USA, UK, and India.

Windows Live SkyDrive provides 500MB of online storage. You can save files in private or public folders. The public folders can be open to anyone or just selected people in your Contacts. You can set permissions for each user such as ; read only, add, delete, or edit.

Windows Live SkyDrive has been in beta for about 6 weeks. New in this release are;

  • Upgraded look and feel 
  • "Also on SkyDrive" — a list of recently visited files (history)
  • Thumbnail images — you can see thumbnails of your image files
  • Drag and drop your files
  • Embed your stuff anywhere — a unique URL link for each file which can be included in an email, blog, or wherever you can use HTML.
  • Windows Live has lots of other products, services, and gadgets in the works that will fulfill the "Software + Services" vision.
