An announcement is expected today from Microsoft, Palm, and Verizon introducing a new version of the popular Treo cell phone. Cnet reported on Saturday that "Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates is scheduled to join Palm CEO Ed Colligan and Verizon Wireless President and CEO Denny Strigl for a press event in San Francisco on Monday."
According to Marketwatch "The device will access Verizon's cellular network using updated technology that sends data over wireless links at broadband speeds. It will compete with the Blackberry device available from Verizon (VZ: news, chart, profile) rival T-Mobile USA Inc., a unit of Deutsche Telekom. "
Palm shipped 470,000 Treo units last quarter. The new Treo with Windows Mobile 5.0 will be a very competitive alternative to the Blackberry. Several cell phones now support Windows Mobile 5.0 including devices from Audiovox, Motorola, and Orange.
Smart phones that can do it all are already The Next Big Thing. Microsoft, Palm, and Verizon partnering on the new Treo provide the best of all worlds. I can't wait to get one!
Is there any way to get a RSS feed to your archived posts? Just found your blog and want to read the past stuff. I know I know... I can go off your page but I would like to get them into my RSS reader so I can have the ability to search in the future. Thanks and great blog.
