Robert Scoble is responding to some of the heat for his blog "Scoble: Poster child for not blogging". In the blog world Robert Scoble is an 'A-List" player and one of the most respected and well read bloggers in the world. He literally wrote the book on blogging, entitled "Naked Conversations: How blogs are changing the way businesses talk with customers".
Robert is a friend and co-worker at Microsoft. He is also human, and makes mistakes like all of us. When he does make a mistake he admits it and apologizes. He doesn't make many. Robert has put a human face on Microsoft. He is accessible to anyone and responds to questions and comments from anyone. Robert is the poster child for good corporate blogging.
Venture Capitalist Rick Segal comes to Robert's defense and offers to hire him immediately for one of his portfolio companies. I think any company would jump at the chance to have Robert on their team. But, they will have to wait because people at Microsoft understand the value Robert brings and want to keep him right here...for a long time.
Blogs are one of the best communication tools ever made. They are a personal conversation from real people...not PR whitewashed pablum. You get the real unvarnished story...warts and all. People really respond to truth and humility. Robert is a great example.
