Google today announced a deal with AirTran, Delta and Virgin America to offer free Gogo Inflight Wi-Fi on every domestic flight from November 20, 2010 through January 2, 2011. Now you can browse the web, use Gmail, and all Google Apps, anytime, anywhere, even on an airplane. Thank you Google!
Personally, I spend a lot of time on airplanes. I am looking forward to the day when Wi-Fi will be available on any flight on any airline. It will make me even more productive and connected. And, I could read Techmeme and Techcrunch all day, even on the plane. I admit I am a Techmeme and Techcrunch junky. Check them out...you will get addicted.
Conversely, I hope they NEVER allow cell phone calls on airplanes. That would be a disaster for productivity and for quiet enjoyment of a flight. If you have ever sat next to an overly talkative seat mate on a cross country flight you know what I mean. Imagine everyone around you yacking on a cell phone for hours with no escape possible.
Tapping away on a keyboard doing email or browsing the web doesn't disturb most people. In fact, they might just find it entertaining.
